The global minimum tax introduced as an important component of second pillar of the ‘Two-Pillar’ solution announced by OECD in July 2021 is considered to be a powerful weapon to deal with profit transfer and excessive tax competition. The Government of the Hong Kong SAR has already announced in the 2023-24 Budget Speech of her plan to bring in force Pillar 2 from 2025 onwards, and has recently started the consultation. This webinar will begin with a general introduction of the BEPS MLI, followed by an indepth discussion of the Pillar 2. The speaker will offer her insights into Pillar 2, and deliberate on how it is going to shift the tax landscape after implementation.

We are pleased to inform you that the new intakes of the Professional Diploma in Tax Advisory programme jointly offered by The Taxation Institute of Hong Kong and CityU School of Continuing and Professional Education (SCOPE) has started.
Upon completion of this Programme, you are eligible to apply for exemptions from Paper 2 “Hong Kong Tax” and Paper 3 “International Tax” of the Chartered Tax Adviser (CTA) Qualifying Examination organised by the Institute. You can also enjoy a one-off waiver of examination fee for sitting Paper 4 “PRC Tax” and Paper 5 “Advanced Taxation Practice” within two years after completing the Programme.

Building on the success of the Belt and Road Conference held since 2017, The Law Society of Hong Kong's International Summit 2023 in celebration of the 10th Anniversary of the Belt and Road Initiative will be held on Wednesday, 11 October 2023 at the Hong Kong Ocean Park Marriot Hotel in a hybrid format.
Themed "Peace and Prosperity on the Belt and Road", the Summit will examine how mediation can resolve commercial and sovereign disputes, and provide a platform for sharing practical skills and knowledge on mediation/ negotiation/ deal-making.
