Members and Students should complete the 2021 Membership Renewal on or before 28 February 2021. Failure to renew your membership on time will result in cessation of your TIHK membership and removal of your name from the CTA Register (if applicable).

Important notes for 2021 Membership Renewal:

1. Online Renewal of Membership and CTA Certificate

To encourage members to renew their membership and CTA certificate (if applicable) online, the Institute will offer two HK$50 CPD coupons (a total value of HK$100) to those members who complete the 2021 renewal via TIHK website by 31 January 2021.

Please log-in your TIHK account, and visit “My Profile” -> “Advancement & Renewal”.

Steps for Renewing Online:

2. Declaration for Renewal of 2021 Membership

All members (Fellow, Associate and Affiliate) are required to complete the declaration for renewal of 2021 membership.

3. Conversion to Chartered Tax Adviser Designation

Certified Tax Advisers of the Institute are given an option to convert to Chartered Tax Adviser in 2021.  They will be required to declare whether they want to convert to Chartered Tax Advisers in the declaration for renewal of 2021 CTA certificate.

Guidelines for Renewal of CTA Certificate & Conversion to Chartered Tax Adviser Designation:

The Institute has held an Information Session on Chartered Tax Adviser (CTA) designation on 16 December 2020.  Please note that NO CPD credits will be granted to those TIHK members and students who watch the replay.

Notes of Information Session on Chartered Tax Adviser (CTA) designation:

4. Professional Indemnity Insurance (PII)

All Chartered Tax Advisers and Certified Tax Advisers who are in public practice are required to be covered by PII, unless they are exempt because their liabilities have already been covered by PII obtained in their other professional capacity.

AMTD, the broker of the Institute’s master PII policy, has kindly extended the deadline for enrolling the 12-month policy (inception date will be 1 January 2021) to 31 December 2020.  For more details, please visit www.tihk.org.hk/professional-indemnity-insurance (member’s log-in is required).

5. Senior Member Rate

As approved at the Extraordinary General Meeting in September 2020, the new “Senior Member Rate” will take effect from 2021 to replace the existing “Retired Member Rate”.

Application for Senior Member Rate is not required.  The Institute has earlier informed those members who fulfill the following requirements that they will enjoy the Senior Member Rate from 2021:

“An Affiliate, an Associate or a Fellow of the Institute shall be eligible to pay the Annual Subscription at 25% of the normal rate, if he, on 1st January of the year:

(a)  has attained the age of 65 years or above, and

(b)  has been a Member of the Institute for 25 years or more.”

We hope that you will stay with us, and we will count on your continuous support to the Institute in the coming year.  If you have difficulties renewing your membership online or accessing our website, please contact the Secretariat at tihkadm@tihk.org.hk or 2810 0438.
