| TIHK Supporting Event — 7th IFA Hong Kong APAC International Tax Conference | 30 January, 2024 |

| TIHK Supporting Event — AAIL Webinar: International Development in Cross-Border Taxation | 30 January, 2024 |
The global minimum tax introduced as an important component of second pillar of the ‘Two-Pillar’ solution announced by OECD in July 2021 is considered to be a powerful weapon to deal with profit transfer and excessive tax competition. The Government of the Hong Kong SAR has already announced in the 2023-24 Budget Speech of her plan to bring in force Pillar 2 from 2025 onwards, and has recently started the consultation. This webinar will begin with a general introduction of the BEPS MLI, followed by an indepth discussion of the Pillar 2. The speaker will offer her insights into Pillar 2, and deliberate on how it is going to shift the tax landscape after implementation.

| Important: Renewal of 2024 Membership & CTA Certificate (if applicable) | 4 December, 2023 |
Members and Students should complete the 2024 Membership Renewal on or before 29 February 2024. Failure to renew your membership on time will result in the cessation of your TIHK membership and the removal of your name from the CTA Register (if applicable).
Important notes for 2024 Membership Renewal:
1. Online Renewal of Membership and CTA Certificate
To encourage members to renew their membership and CTA certificate (if applicable) online, the Institute will offer one incentive to those members who complete the 2023 renewal via TIHK website by 31 January 2024.
Please log-in your TIHK account, and visit “My Profile” -> “Advancement & Renewal” -> “Annual Renewal”.
The incentive is as follows:
- Two HK$50 CPD e-coupons for enrolling in the Institute’s seminars or webinars
For those who complete renewal online by 31 January 2024, the Institute will offer two HK$50 CPD e-coupons (total value at HK$100) through email. The first e-coupon will be issued in February 2024 and valid until May 2024. The second e-coupon will be issued in May 2024 and valid until August 2024.
2. Declaration for Renewal of 2024 Membership
All members (Fellow, Associate and Affiliate) are required to complete the declaration for renewal of 2024 membership.
Starting from 2022, members who are not CTAs are also required to declare whether they have fulfilled the Institute’s CPD requirement when they renew their membership. The CPD requirement for non-CTA members is to obtain a total of 10 CPD Hours during 1 December 2022 to 30 November 2023, of which 3 hours are tax related. Please visit www.tihk.org.hk/continuing-professional-development/ for details on the Institute’s CPD requirements.
All Chartered Tax Advisers and Certified Tax Advisers who are in public practice are required to be covered by Professional Indemnity Insurance (“PII”), unless they are exempted because their liabilities have already been covered by the firm or PII obtained in their other professional capacity.
AMTD is the broker of the Institute’s master PII policy. Enrollment for and renewal of the 12-month policy (incepton date from 1 January 2023) is now opened. The deadline will be 29 December 2023 (Friday).

5. Online Renewal of Student Registration
In order to be more environmental-friendly, Students are strongly encouraged to renew their student registration online.
Please log-in your TIHK account, and visit “My Profile” -> “Advancement & Renewal” -> “Annual Renewal”.

| CityU SCOPE Professional Diploma in Tax Advisory 2024 | 4 October, 2023 |
Dear Members and Students,
We are pleased to inform you that the new intakes of the Professional Diploma in Tax Advisory programme jointly offered by The Taxation Institute of Hong Kong and CityU School of Continuing and Professional Education (SCOPE) has started.
Upon completion of this Programme, you are eligible to apply for exemptions from Paper 2 “Hong Kong Tax” and Paper 3 “International Tax” of the Chartered Tax Adviser (CTA) Qualifying Examination organised by the Institute. You can also enjoy a one-off waiver of examination fee for sitting Paper 4 “PRC Tax” and Paper 5 “Advanced Taxation Practice” within two years after completing the Programme.

Members’ nomination will then be considered by the respective Committee and Taskforce. The Secretariat may contact you to join the Committee(s) and Taskforce(s) which you are interested to serve. However, seats for each Committee are limited. If all available seats are taken up, the Secretariat will keep your information in the database and contact you when a vacancy arises during the course of the year.

| TIHK Supporting Event – The Law Society of Hong Kong’s International Summit 2023 in celebration of the 10th Anniversary of the Belt and Road Initiative | 26 September, 2023 |
Building on the success of the Belt and Road Conference held since 2017, The Law Society of Hong Kong’s International Summit 2023 in celebration of the 10th Anniversary of the Belt and Road Initiative will be held on Wednesday, 11 October 2023 at the Hong Kong Ocean Park Marriot Hotel in a hybrid format.
Themed “Peace and Prosperity on the Belt and Road“, the Summit will examine how mediation can resolve commercial and sovereign disputes, and provide a platform for sharing practical skills and knowledge on mediation/ negotiation/ deal-making. Participants from different jurisdictions along the Belt and Road will attend the Summit, creating plenty of opportunities for the Hong Kong prfessional services market.
