| CityU SCOPE Professional Diploma in Tax Advisory 2024 | 4 October, 2023 |
Dear Members and Students,
We are pleased to inform you that the new intakes of the Professional Diploma in Tax Advisory programme jointly offered by The Taxation Institute of Hong Kong and CityU School of Continuing and Professional Education (SCOPE) has started.
Upon completion of this Programme, you are eligible to apply for exemptions from Paper 2 “Hong Kong Tax” and Paper 3 “International Tax” of the Chartered Tax Adviser (CTA) Qualifying Examination organised by the Institute. You can also enjoy a one-off waiver of examination fee for sitting Paper 4 “PRC Tax” and Paper 5 “Advanced Taxation Practice” within two years after completing the Programme.

The Institute has established a number of committees, under the purview of the Council, to look after different matters. You are now invited to put forward your nomination. Please consider volunteering your time and services to those committees that best match your interest and skills.

All nomination forms must reach the Secretariat either by fax at 2523 1263 or by email at tihkadm@tihk.org.hk on or before 13 October 2023 (Friday). Members’ nomination will then be considered by the respective Committee and Taskforce. The Secretariat may contact you to join the Committee(s) and Taskforce(s) which you are interested to serve. However, seats for each Committee are limited. If all available seats are taken up, the Secretariat will keep your information in the database and contact you when a vacancy arises during the course of the year.

| TIHK Supporting Event – The Law Society of Hong Kong’s International Summit 2023 in celebration of the 10th Anniversary of the Belt and Road Initiative | 26 September, 2023 |
Building on the success of the Belt and Road Conference held since 2017, The Law Society of Hong Kong’s International Summit 2023 in celebration of the 10th Anniversary of the Belt and Road Initiative will be held on Wednesday, 11 October 2023 at the Hong Kong Ocean Park Marriot Hotel in a hybrid format.
Themed “Peace and Prosperity on the Belt and Road“, the Summit will examine how mediation can resolve commercial and sovereign disputes, and provide a platform for sharing practical skills and knowledge on mediation/ negotiation/ deal-making. Participants from different jurisdictions along the Belt and Road will attend the Summit, creating plenty of opportunities for the Hong Kong prfessional services market.

The 8th edition of the Belt and Road Summit jointly organised by the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region and the Hong Kong Trade Development Council will be held in Hong Kong on 13-14 September 2023.
The annual Belt and Road Summit is a premier international platform for participants to capture promising business opportunities along the Belt and Road. Since its inception in 2016, the Summit has been gathering senior government officials and prestigious business leaders from countries and regions along and beyond the Belt and Road to exchange insights on multilateral collaboration and explore potential business opportunities. The previous Summit attracted close to 20,000 onsite and online participants from over 80 countries and regions.
